Reporter, Host
Morning Edition Producer and reporter Tony Ganzer works to safeguard the sound of KJZZ’s popular morning program.
From sailing the coastal waters of Florida, and SCUBA diving; to being an acoustic guitar player and coffee-house singer to hobby-philosopher; Morning Edition Producer and Reporter Tony Ganzer tries to stay busy while working with KJZZ’s popular morning program.
Hailing from the Northwest, Ganzer graduated from the University of Idaho in May 2005 with his Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Journalism and Mass Media.
He began in print journalism working with the Moscow-Pullman Daily News as a business features writer, but soon branched into broadcast media. He contributed to Idaho Public Television and anchored and reported for a local television news magazine program, before finding his interest in radio.
Ganzer worked as News Director for the University of Idaho’s KUOI-FM, before interning and then reporting for Northwest Public Radio out of Washington State University. He then became a freelance reporter for the Northwest Public Affairs Network; a group that reports for NPR member stations in Idaho, Washington and Oregon.
Ganzer won the first-ever Michael Kirk Award for Broadcast excellence from the University of Idaho, as well as three Society of Professional Journalist regional awards in 2005 for radio feature and spot reporting.
He’s contributed to the Pulse of the Planet national program; to NPR’s Living on Earth; and to the Independent Native News service out of Alaska.
